South Korean tech giant Samsung is most likely working on bringing its curved-edge display back, especially on its flagship smartphones. We know this as some patents for the same have surfaced online. In a report by MSPowerUser, Samsung recently filed a concept for a curved-edge design. This hints at a potential comeback for the once-popular feature.
SurveyIf we take a closer look at the patent, the design looks similar to that of Samsung’s Ultra-level phones, such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The illustrations showcase a slightly curved display that bends downward at the edges. The Ultra smartphones on the Galaxy S series are known for having the S pen and interestingly, the design includes a dedicated S Pen slot. So we might get to see the curved-edge innovation on a future Ultra model. For context, the current Galaxy S24 Ultra has a flat and boxy look to it.

Samsung uses curved displays a lot sometime back so much that it became a hallmark of Samsung’s premium devices years ago. However, this choice faced a lot of criticism for practical issues like accidental touches and compatibility with screen protectors.
