Samsung announces six million Galaxy S4 were shipped in 15 days
Samsung's popularity as a phone manufacturer keeps growing, as substantiated by the sales number of its latest flagship.
The latest flagship from Samsung, the Galaxy S4 has shipped 6 million units in 15 days according to the Korean electronics giant. Samsung says this is the fastest rate at which they’ve sold a smartphone, or any phone for that matter.
A Samsung spokesperson commented: “As of the end of April, we supplied four million Galaxy S4 handsets to telecommunication operators around the world. As of Friday, we have sold more than 6 million units, and we predict that we could break the 10-million mark by as early as the end of this month.”
Samsung had shipped four million units between April 26 and April 30, with the number reaching six million by May 10. However, the catch seems to be the fact that these shipments are to carriers and operators around the world, and not to end consumers. If you’re looking for a little reference and perspective, the Galaxy S3 took 21 days to ship out three million units and the S2 took 55 days for the same.
There is no doubt that the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note lines of Samsung devices are extremely popular. Recently, Samsung started offering heavy discounts and EMI schemes to customers in order to boost sales numbers. The same offers have now trickled down to the latest Galaxy S4 too, meaning that the adoption rate of the phone in the Indian market should be quite favourable.
