Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Ace 2, and the Galaxy mini 2, due to arrive in Europe by April and March respectively. While the Galaxy mini 2 had briefly appeared on an Indian online retail site recently, this is the first time the Galaxy Ace 2 has been seen clearly, though rumoured for a while. Both the Ace 2 and mini 2 run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Pricing details are as of now, not available.
The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 bears an 800MHz dual-core processor, a 3.8-inch 800×480 pixel display, 768MB of RAM, 4GB built-in storage expandable via microSD (up to 32GB), 5 MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera, as well as HSDPA 14.4Mbps, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v3.0, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo FM radio with RDS, microUSB 2.0, and GPS/ Glonass connectivity options. It packs a 1,500 mAh battery, is 10.5mm thick, and weighs in at 122 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy mini 2 on the other hand, bears a 800MHz processor, a 3.27-inch 320×480 pixel display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB built-in storage expandable via microSD (up to 32GB), 3MP fixed focus rear camera, as well as HSDPA 7.2Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA, A-GPS, Bluetooth v3.0, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo FM radio with RDS,and microUSB connectivity. It packs a 1,300 mAh battery, is 11.6mm thick, and weighs in at 105.3 grams.
NFC-enabled versions of both the Galaxy Ace 2 and mini 2 will also be available in select territories. Common features include Samsung TouchWiz UI and L!ve Panel UX, Samsung Apps, Samsung Kies, Social Hub, Music Hub, and Samsung ChatON messenger. Speaking on the launch of the two devices, JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, said:
