iResQ, an iPhone repair shop claims that it has the front panel component of the iPhone 4G. It has also posted photos that reveal certain things. Although iResQ claims that the parts are not fake, nothing can be said for sure.
But if the parts are real, and Apple isn’t planning to change the iPhone’s design, then the new iPhone will be quarter of an inch longer than its predecessor.
iResq also points out that the front panel has a “reflective, mirror-like surface” located directly above the speaker. It says that it might be the relocated proximity sensor. The current proximity sensor that is located just to the left of the speaker is used to save battery by switching the screen lights off when the user is holding the phone to his ears to talk. The new location can mean increased functions of the sensor.
Certain speculations suggest that the increased size is probably to accommodate new features.
Whether the rumours are true or not, the followers will look forward to the releasing of the next iteration of the iPhone. If Apple is to release the device this year, it will certainly do so at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this June.
