Rumoured Xiaomi Mi 5 with Snapdragon 820 SoC may release in November
Recently leaked specifications of Xiaomi Mi 5 hint at Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM and fingerprint scanner, to be available by November this year
Xiaomi has been rumoured to be making a new flagship smartphone that seems to have a pretty powerful spec sheet. Reported by Android Headlines, the Xiaomi Mi 5, that has been codenamed ‘Libra’, is slated for a launch in November this year.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will probably be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, with Xiaomi looking to avoid the heating issue that Snapdragon 810 has been known to face. It will also have a 5.3” QHD display at 1440×2560 pixels resolution, have 4GB of RAM, and provide options for 16GB or 64GB of internal storage. The main camera will feature a 16-megapixel image sensor, while the front camera will be specced at 6 megapixels. The battery has been stated to be of 3030mAh capacity. Additionally, the Mi 5 is probably being fitted with a fingerprint scanner, and will be loaded with Android Lollipop v5.1.1, with Xiaomi’s custom MiUI OS running on top of it.
Although nothing has been said about the build, Xiaomi is expected to fit the Mi 5 with a metal casing. Rivals OnePlus has scheduled the launch of their next flagship smartphone, OnePlus 2, on July 27. A number of specs have been confirmed for it, with OnePlus banking on an ‘improved’ Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC to power the device. Xiaomi’s current flagship, the Mi 4, has recently seen back-to-back price drops. While the 16GB version is priced at Rs. 14,999, the 64GB is now available for Rs. 19,999.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has also been rumoured to be under manufacture alongside the Xiaomi Mi 5.
