Rumours of the refurbished iPhones are back in the news. BGR India, which previously reported that Apple was selling refurbished iPhones in India, has claimed that Beetel (Bharti Airtel’s subsidiary) has received a small inventory of the refurbished models of the 16GB iPhone 4 and the 8GB iPhone 3GS. The BGR India report further says that the refurbished models were offered in the form of corporate deals.
The refurbished iPhone 4 (16GB variant) is priced at Rs. 22,500, while the 8GB model of the iPhone 3GS comes for approximately Rs. 15,000. The report also claims they are aware of the people who have bought the refurbished iPhone 4 16GB for Rs 22,500 with complete bill and one-year warranty.
“While we cannot confirm the size of the inventory, we are told the number was less than 1,000 units. Our sources were not sure when they will receive another shipment of refurbished iPhones but they assure us this was not an isolated case,” the report concludes.
If BGR India report is to be believed, the refurbished iPhones could soon make their way to the Indian market. The refurbished models, not to be confused with the second hand models, are likely to be great choice for Apple enthusiasts, who have waited long for the prices of iPhones to come down. It may be recalled that Apple and telecom operators Airtel and Aircel drew flak from all corners for pricing the iPhone 4S higher than other regions. The refurbished iPhones are certainly going to create a lot of buzz in the market.
