RIM roadmap leak claims first BB10 devices, London and Nevada by Q1 2013
Just last week, BlackBerry had announced yet another loss, and a delay regarding the launch of its first BlackBerry 10 OS sporting device.
According to BlackberryOS.com, which has published a leaked BlackBerry roadmap on its site, the first BB10 OS devices – the touchscreen London and the physical keypad sporting Nevada will launch in the first quarter of 2013.
Along with these phones, the roadmap (seen below) also shows the next generation BlackBerry Playbook 4G – which will most likely not sport BB10 OS, expected to launch before the year end. Another 10-inch tablet codenamed Blackforest is expected to launch in Q3. Two more devices codenamed Naples and Nashville will also be seen in 2013.
According to BlackberryOS.com, however, RIM will launch BB10 devices in Europe first and later in North America, as the BB devices are more readily accepted in the European market than in the iPhone and Android-infested North American market. RIM may also want to keep the launch dates in the Indian sub-continent around the same time as Europe.
Looking at the roadmap, it seems like RIM will have an eventful 2013, but it is best to take this roadmap with a pinch of salt as the timelines may not be completely sacrosanct.
But will that really get RIM out of the downward spiral it is currently in? That shall be decided only when these products hit the market.
