Updated on 28-Oct-2010

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has been the subject of innumerable leaks in the past few months, and now, it has officially been announced by Research In Motion, featuring nearly all of the rumoured specifications. It will go on sale worldwide in November.

[RELATED_ARTICLE]The successor to the Bold 9700, the Bold 9780 doesn’t offer too much new, except for an upgrade to BlackBerry OS 6.0 (check out our full coverage of its features), doubling of the memory from 256MB to 512MB, and a new 5MP camera instead of the earlier 3.2MP camera. The camera will include the same continuous autofocus, image stabilization, LED flash, 2x digital zoom features, as well as geo-tagging. If you are wondering, no touchscreen will accompany the new touch-friendly OS onto the device.

Like the Bold 9700, you will get a 2.4-inch 400×360 resolution display, 624MHz processor, an optical trackpad, 3G/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity, integrated GPS, microSD expandability (up to 32GB), and a WebKit-based browser (which now supports HTML5 with the OS upgrade), among other things.
