HMD Global recently announced the availability of their Android Oreo (Go Edition) powered Nokia 1 smartphone in India. The Nokia 1 was launched at a price of Rs 5,499 in India. Now, in order to make the phone an attractive buy, HMD has partnered with Jio to provide an instant cashback of Rs 2,200 with the smartphone. This cashback offer from Jio is similar to what the company previously offered on various other smartphones under its ‘Jio Football Offer’. Jio Prime subscribers will also avail an additional 60GB 4G data on the purchase of the smartphone and after activating the device by performing a prepaid recharge of Rs 198 or Rs 299, the Rs 2,200 cashback will be credited back into their MyJio account in the form of 44 vouchers, each worth Rs 50. The offer is valid from March 28, 2018 till March 31, 2019.
For availing benefits of the Jio-Nokia 1 offer, one needs to perform the initial activation recharge on or before June 30, 2018. Alongside the cashback, Jio subscribers they will also receive a 4G data voucher of 10GB per recharge, for six subsequent recharges. The data voucher will be credited to users' accounts within 48 hours of recharge and it should be noted that one will receive the additional data vouchers only during the data entitlement period of the offer (before June 30, 2018). Also, the extra data voucher should be utilised within the recharge cycle period under which it was credit and if unused, it will expire.
Additionally, only one Rs 50 voucher can be redeemed per eligible recharge via the MyJio app and if the cashback vouchers are not used by the subscriber on or before May 31, 2022, they will be invalidated. Jio says that only an “Eligible Subscriber” who has purchased the Nokia 1, is an active prepaid subscriber and also a Prime member can avail the offer.
As mentioned earlier, the Nokia 1 runs on Google’s lightweight Android Oreo (Go Edition) operating system, which is optimised for devices with low specs. The smartphone is powered by a Mediatek MT6737M quad-core processor with 1GB RAM and features a 4.5-inch FWVGA display. It comes with 8GB ROM and is backed by a 2150mAh battery. It is priced at Rs 5,499 in India and comes with Xpress-On removable covers which can be purchased separately for Rs 450.
Running on Android Oreo (Go Edition), the Nokia 1 is preloaded with Go Edition apps by Google, such as Google Go, YouTube Go and more. These apps take up less space and memory, hence are optimised for . The dual SIM mobile phone offers 4G connectivity, and supports microSD slot as well.
