Highlights:
The only official information out about Redmi’s upcoming flagship handset is that it will run on the Snapdragon 855 SoC and will priced at RMB 2,500 (Rs 26,000 approx). Unofficially, leaks and reports about the company’s first flagship phone have been leaking out and we recently came across an image where a couple of phones were spotted behind the Redmi CEO Lei Jun and were speculated to be the company’s upcoming flagship phone that features a notch-less, near bezel-less display and a pop-up camera. Now, a leaked image of the phone via a Weibo post might have given us the first look at the Redmi phone, which might apparently be named the Redmi Pro2.
As you can observe from the image below, the Redmi Pro2 is seen featuring an almost bezel-less display. There are thin bezels on the side and the top but the chin is still prominently visible. As a pop-up camera can be seen on the phone’s top edge, there’s neither a notch nor a punch-hole display design. Additionally, some information about the phone is also revealed via the image and alongside the mention of Snapdragon 855, the handset is said to come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor, which will be a first for Redmi if true. It’s not known if it will be a standard optical or an ultrasonic sensor.
The phone might also be equipped with a triple rear camera setup, which will also be a first for the company, if true. The primary camera on the Redmi Pro2 is touted to be a 48MP sensor and since it’s a flagship, we expect the company to employ the Sony IMX 586 sensor over the Samsung GM1. Additionally, the new leaked image is in line with the previously leaked image as one of the phones on the table behind Lei Jun also featured a gradient purple-red gradient colour on the top edge.
