The Redmi Note 12 has already entered Chinese and Indian markets, and while the smartphones have been received well, Xiaomi might be planning to tweak the lineup a little. It is believed that Xiaomi may be launching a 4G variant of the Redmi Note 12 in India, and this will be a more affordable offering when compared with the rest of the lineup. While the company has not revealed anything about the launch timelines, the IMEI database listing of the Redmi Note 12 4G reveals a little about its features.
As per the IMEI listing, the smartphone’s codename is Tapas, and the model numbers are 23028RA60L and 23021RAAEG. They do not offer support for NFC (while there is an NFC-supporting variant of this smartphone, it will not be launching in India). The Redmi Note 12 will run the latest Android 13 software update out of the box. It will be layered with MIUI 13. This is an upgrade already as the Note 12 smartphones in India boot the 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box. The listing also indicates that the base model of the Redmi Note 12 4G will offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage while the high-end model will offer 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
We may even see an AMOLED display and a 5000mAh battery. The smartphone might offer a triple camera setup and may run on the latest Helio G99 SoC.
The launch times of the Redmi Note 12 4G have not been confirmed.
