The Redmi K30 is a long-rumoured device. The rumours surrounding the phone first started doing the rounds on the internet in August. Since then, the device has been on and off the rumour mill. Recently, it was reported that the Redmi K30 5G launch has been delayed to January. However, at the Xiaomi Developers Conference, Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO has confirmed that the Redmi K30 5G model will be launched this December.
According to Chinese media, Jun confirmed that the launch timeline of the Redmi K30 5G model at the Conference. He said that the Redmi K30 5G variant will launch in China in December. However, this refutes the claims of Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing of the phone’s launch being delayed till 2020. There is also a possibility that Redmi K30 5G variant will launch next month, but it might be made available to buy in 2020.
To recall, Xiaomi has already said that it will launch over 10 5G phones in 2020. It could be one of the first companies to launch 5G phones next year. For reference, Xiaomi has already launched two 5G phones – the Mi Mix 3 5G and Mi 9 Pro 5G – in the local market this year. The demand is said to have exceeded Xiaomi’s expectations and led to supply chain issues. Therefore, it has prompted the company to launch 5G models for the high, middle, and low-end price tiers, next year.
Lei has previously said, “People in the industry fear that next year 4G models won’t sell, this is a step you have no choice but to take, so we hope that operators can speed up their expansion of 5G base stations.”
China is leading the way in terms of 5G support as the Chinese carriers have already started accepting pre-subscriptions for 5G. Furthermore, around 9.3 million users have signed up for next-generation communication technology even before it is rolled out in China.
