Redmi flagship to have an ultra-wide lens: Report

An executive has confirmed that it will also have a 3.5mm jack and NFC.

Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has been deliberately giving away information about the upcoming Redmi flagship device. A lot of teasers have already given details about specs of the phone, and the latest one comes with info about a number features that the phone will have. A top company executive has said that the handset will come with an ultra-wide lens, 3.5mm jack and NFC. Further, there are also claims that the phone will sport a 6.39-inch display.

The source of these details is Lu Weibing, the General Manager of Redmi, who has been active publicly and is constantly interacting with people through social media channels. In fact, he is the primary source of all the information about the phone. In the latest development, the executive revealed that the flagship would have a super wide-angle lens. He revealed this information while replying to a question asked by a user on the photo contest that he organised on Weibo.

The phone is likely to have a rear triple camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, a 13MP sensor and an 8MP sensor. Unfortunately, there is no clarity on which sensor will come with a super-wide lens. Further, the executive also spilled the beans on the inclusion of a 3.5mm audio jack and NFC. OEMs are slowly doing away with the the 3.5mm jack and are going wireless, while NFC is gaining importance because of the emergence of NFC-powered payments.

Some other leaked alleged specs for the Redmi flagship include a 6.39-inch display that might offer a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. We already know that the phone will likely have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset under the hood, and abundant stocks of the phone are already being prepared. Previous leaks have suggested that the phone might come with an 8GB/128GB memory configuration.
