Xiaomi announced a slew of smartphones in India this year and one of them was the Redmi 8 series of handsets. The entry-level handset is aimed at users who want more features by spending less and it even has the same camera sensor as the Pixel 3. The device is priced starting at Rs 7,999 and in this range, it goes up against the likes of Realme 5, Motorola One Macro and other similarly priced handsets. The Redmi Note 8 will go up for sale today via online and offline channels and here’s everything you need to know.
The Redmi 8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset and it comes equipped with a 6.2-inch HD+ display. It offers up to 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 512 GB via a microSD card. It sports P2i splash resistance coating and Gorilla Glass protection. In terms of optics, the Redmi 8 sports a dual-camera setup with a 12 MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front lies is an 8MP sensor. The smartphone is backed by a 5000mAh battery, which supports 18W fast charging. However, it comes bundled with a 10W charger in-the-box. It sports a Type-C port for charging, runs on Android 9 Pie and also gets a fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Redmi 8 is priced starting at Rs 7,999 for the base 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage variant. The 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage version of the device is priced at Rs 8,999. It goes on sale today via Flipkart and Mi.com at 12PM and it will be available in Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue colour variants.
