Highlights:
Realme has announced that it will launch the Realme 3 on March 4 in India. The company posted an image on its official Twitter handle a few hours after Realme CEO Madhav Sheth uploaded an image showing a spec comparison between the MediaTek Helio P70 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, detailing the advantages of the former. The tweet is being seen as a teaser suggesting that the upcoming Realme 3 could sport the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC under the hood.
The tweet, which is now deleted, comes a day after company teased a dual-camera system by posting an image from its official Twitter handle. The image also showed the diamond design on the back. Realme 3 will be company’s second phone after the Realme U1 to be powered by a MediaTek processor. Now coming back to comparison, the image shows that the Helio P70 chipset has lower power consumption in heavy games, faster CPU performance and faster downloads. The Helio P70 is built on the 12nm process compared to the 14nm of the Snapdragon 660.
Unfortunately, there is no further information available on the handset, however, it is expected that the phone could be priced similar to the its predecessors. Recently, Sheth teased the upcoming smartphone on Twitter by writing, “Realme 1+ Realme 2 = Best Power and Best Style in the same segment.” Realme 3 teasers are strategically popping up when Xioami is aggressively promoting its upcoming budget Redmi Note 7 smartphone in the country.
In January, a report said that the company Realme could launch the Realme 3 by the end of the first quarter. Sheth had reportedly said that the company is working on making its upcoming phone different from the Realme 2. The executive also refuted the idea of launching a phone with a triple camera setup or a “punch-hole” screen. He said that the company is working on a handset with a 48MP sensor. There is no clarity whether the Realme 3 will have the 48MP sensor on not.
In comparison, Xiaomi has been teasing the Redmi Note 7 with 48MP camera as its USP. Xiaomi is preparing to launch its budget Redmi Note 7 smartphone on February 28 in the country. The phone is already launched in China and recently, it was teased on Flipkart. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and the latest processor comparison could be seen as Realme’s dig against its competitor.
