Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset spotted on India’s import website Zauba
The new SoC is internally codenamed as the MSM8998 and is widely rumored to be the Snapdragon 830 with Adreno 540 GPU.
As far as Qualcomm’s smartphone SoCs go, the latest in the progeny are the Snapdragon 820 and the Snapdragon 821. We have seen smartphones such as the LeEco Le Max 2, OnePlus 3, LG G5, HTC 10, Xiaomi Mi5 and the Sony Xperia XZ sport the SD 820 chipset, while the Xiaomi Mi 5s, Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe, Google Pixel, Pixel XL house the VR capable SD 821.
Now Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 830 chipset has been spotted on a number of import listings on Zauba. Believed to be internally codenamed MSM8998, the Snapdragon 830 has been widely rumoured to be using the 10nm FinFET process with Kryo 200 cores. The mobile SoC is also believed to house an Adreno 540 GPU for faster gaming performance. According to the Zauba listing below, the processor has been imported into India from the U.S. and the same is installed in a prototype device with 64GB storage, 4GB LPDDR4X RAM.
SD 830, the successor to the SD 820 SoC, is also expected to reduce power consumption drastically and could be capable of supporting up to 8GB of RAM.
