HIGHLIGHTS

Qualcomm has revealed that they are expecting low revenue in the second half of the fiscal year due to major OEM bailing out on its Snapdragon 810

Qualcomm, the mobile SoC manufacturer has announced that they have lowered their revenue for the second half of the fiscal year 2015. According to a report release by the company, Qualcomm says, the Snapdragon 810 processor will not be a part of the upcoming design cycle of a large customer’s flagship device.

Early reports suggest that Samsung might be the OEM which pulled out and could be using its own Exynos chipset instead of the Snapdragon 810 in its upcoming Galaxy S6. It was reported earlier that Qualcomm itself was facing troubles while testing the 810 chip. The chipset was marred by overheating issues at certain voltages, which led to performance issues.

Qualcomm has till now been on top of things when it comes to its flagship SoCs. Currently all major phone manufacturers use a Snapdragon processor in their top smartphones. The Qualcomm Snapdragon is already available in the upcoming LG G Flex 2 and is rumoured to be powering the yet to be announced HTC M9. Besides that we might have to wait to find out for sure what SoC Samsung would be bringing with its Galaxy S6.
