Qualcomm chip with Cortex A710 and Cortex A510 cores leaks; Could be Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC
A new Snapdragon 7-series processor has leaked.
It is an octacore Snapdragon chipset with Cortex 710 and Cortex 510 cores.
Qualcomm may brand it as Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.
Qualcomm may be gearing up to launch a new Snapdragon 7-series mobile processor this year. At least rumors of the same has started surfacing. Just recently, the spec sheet of an 8-core Qualcomm chipset leaked and it is being speculated as the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.
The new leak has been brought to our attention by the tipster Digital Chat Station. He shared his finding on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo recently. It tells us a fair bit about the said chip. Let’s have a look.
Alleged Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Specs
Alleged Qualcomm Snapdragon 7-series chip specs
As you can see, this is a Qualcomm octacore chipset with big.Little core structure. This includes a cluster of 4x Cortex A710 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and a cluster of 4x Cortex A510 cores running at 1.80GHz frequency.
We learn from the spec table that the Snapdragon processor is manufactured on a 4nm architecture, although whether it is relying on Samsung or TSMC process is not known.
The other important detail gathered from the list is that it is using an Adreno 662 GPU. Going with this, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 could have better or at least comparable graphical performance to Snapdragon 888 which had Adreno 660 graphics. However, at least on paper, it is behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s Adreno 730 GPU.
Speaking of which, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC has got a 4nm based octacore design with 1x Cortex-X2 prime core running at 3.0GHz, 3x Cortex-A710 performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz, and 4x Cortex-A510 efficiency cores set to run at 1.8GHz speed. This should give you an idea of how the rumored Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 would compare against its big brother.
But, until we have more verifiable evidence, we would suggest you to take the aforementioned details with some suspicion.
