The three new Snapdragon 625, 435 and the 425 SoCs from Qualcomm offer support for dual-camera ISPs and LTE

Chipmaker Qualcomm has announced three new SoC’s for the budget buyer. The company has announced the Snapdragon 625, 435 and 425 SoCs which are expected to power smartphone by mid 2016. All three processors offer 4G LTE connectivity and the company claims that they have worked to improve the battery life when compared to previous generation SoC's. These SoCs will also support dual-camera ISPs and Qualcomm’s quick charge technology. In addition, qualcomm has fitted all three SOCs with its Hexagon DSP.

Out of the three, the Snapdragon 625 is the newest SoC of them all. This is the successor to the Snapdragon 617 which came out a few months ago. It is still an octa-core processor with two quad-core clusters of ARM A53 cores. However, this time around, Qualcomm has changed the manufacturing process from 28nm to 14nm which the company claims will offer 35 percent lower power consumption. This makes it the first non-high-end SoC to use the FinFET manufacturing process. The company has revealed that one of the core cluster is clocked at 2GHz+ but haven't shared any details about the clock speeds of the second core cluster. This new SoC also features the new Adreno 506 GPU which supports OpenGL ES 3.1+.

The other two SoCs, Snapdragon 425 and 435 are based on the old 28nm manufacturing process and use the ARM A53 cores as well. Both new SOCs support H.264 and HEVC formats in 1080p. These new SoCs are upgrades in terms of speed and functionality from the current Snapdragon 410 and 412 SoC
