If you’re a fan of Google’s Pixel series, you might be curious about how much it really costs the company to make one of these high-end devices. The Pixel 9 Pro, with its stunning display and cutting-edge camera features, might seem like an expensive gadget, but it turns out that the actual cost to build it is much lower than its hefty price tag.
According to a recent report from Nikkei (via 9To5Google), the estimated cost to produce the Pixel 9 Pro is around $406 (approximately Rs 34,000). This includes the price of key components like the Tensor G4 chipset, which costs Google $80 (about Rs 6,700), and the Samsung-made M14 display, which costs $75 (around Rs 6,320). The camera system, another major contributor to the cost, adds about $61 (roughly Rs 5,100). Interestingly, while the price of the chip has gone up slightly compared to previous models, Google has managed to save on the display and camera components, helping to keep overall costs in check.

In fact, the Pixel 9 Pro is reportedly about 11 percent cheaper to produce than its predecessor, the Pixel 8 Pro. But this isn’t a direct comparison since the Pixel 9 Pro features a smaller display and battery than the 8 Pro.
So, while it costs Google considerably less to produce, the Pixel 9 Pro still delivers an excellent user experience. The lower production cost is the result of some strategic choices in components. Despite the savings, the Pixel 9 Pro retails for Rs 1,09,999 in India. The final price reflects more than just the cost of manufacturing—it includes factors like shipping, marketing, and other business expenses that all contribute to the device’s premium price.

In comparison, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro reportedly cost about $568 (around Rs 47,800) to produce, with its own set of pricey components like the A18 Pro chip, which alone costs $135 (about Rs 11,300). So, while Google may be saving on the production end, the Pixel 9 Pro still comes at a premium, reflecting the various costs associated with bringing it to market.
