Phones with an IP68 rating that can shrug off splashes of water

We’ve all been there. The moment when your phone gets splashed with water. Your heart is in your mouth as you try to dry your smartphone as fast as you can only to realise that you’re too late. In order to avoid such mishaps, smartphone manufactures introduced waterproof phones, and an ‘IP’ rating was introduced to indicate how waterproof and dustproof a device is, which IP68 being the highest rating. Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max

The Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max offers an IP68 rating, which the company claims to allow the phone to survive in 5ft of water for 30 minutes. This feature could allow users to capture underwater pictures and videos via the triple camera setup in this iPhone. In fact, the phone offers 4K video recording, portrait pictures, slow-mo videos, wide-angle shots and a lot more. The phone packs a large 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display that supports HDR.  Apart from these features, the phone packs an A13 bionic chip that is one of the best chipsets currently available on a smartphone. 

Samsung Galaxy S10

The Samsung Galaxy S10 offers an IP68 rating and is certified to be waterproof up to 1.5m for 30 minutes. Powering the smartphone is an Exynos 9820 processor, which is aided with 8GB RAM and 512GB built-in storage in this phone. At the back is a triple camera setup with a 16MP+12MP+12MP configuration, which when coupled with the IP68 rating, should allow users to take some very interesting pictures. Other features of the device include the compact 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED QHD+ display with a resolution of 3040x1440p. 

LG G8X

The LG8X too offers an IP68 rating. However, unlike other devices in this list, it comes with a special cover that also adds a secondary screen to your phone. This allows added functionality such as operating two apps at the same time. The primary display of the phone is a 6.4-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC with 8GB RAM, which should ensure that things are running smoothly. Users get 128GB of storage, which should be plenty for most users. In terms of optics, users get a 12MP+13MP camera at the back, while at the front is a single 32MP unit. 

Huawei P30 Pro

The Huawei P30 Pro has an IP68 rating, which means it’s a waterproof and dustproof smartphone. Thanks to it, you can use its capable rear camera for underwater photography. It features a quad-camera setup at the back with a 40MP+20MP+8MP+ToF configuration. The phone is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 980 SoC, which is further aided by 8GB RAM. For storage, users get 256GB of space, which should be plenty for most users.
