Pantel Technologies to launch three Jelly Bean-based smartphones in June

Pantel Technologies, which is currently selling budget tablets in the Indian market, will venture into the smartphone market in June. The company will launch three smartphones running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The smartphones will be priced between Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 15,000. The devices will be 3G-enabled and sport a 1GHz processor. The company is said to be working on 4G devices as well, which will hit store shelves in December.
Pantel Technologies Managing Director Vijender Singh told PTI, “We will launch three smartphones in the second week of June. The devices will be in the range of Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 15,000.” Vijender Singh goes on to say, “We have tied up with BSNL to offer attractive data plans for the phones also. We already have an arrangement with BSNL for our tablets.” The company aims to sell 50,000 to 60,000 smartphones each month.
Entering the budget smartphone market, Pantel will face some stiff competition from established brands such as Micromax, Karbonn, Lava, Spice, Xolo, Zen and more. Budget smartphone makers like Micromax, Xolo and more have launched some value for money devices that boast of interesting specifications under the hood as well as some impressive performance.
