Oppo has announced the Reno 8 series in its home market. There are three phones namely, Oppo Reno 8, Oppo Reno 8 Pro, and Oppo Reno 8 Pro Plus. Oppo Reno 8 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1300, Reno 8 Pro by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, and Reno 8 Pro+ by Dimensity 8100-Max. The common Reno 8 series specifications include a 50MP primary camera, AMOLED display, 32MP selfie camera, 4500mAh battery, 80W charging, Android 12, an under-display fingerprint reader, and USB-C port, and WiFi 6.
Oppo Reno 8 sports a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a punch-hole cutout. There is a 32MP sensor as the front camera.
The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP leader, a 2MP depth shooter, and a 2MP macro module.
Inside, the phone has a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset coupled with up to 12GB RAM, 256GB onboard storage, and a 4500mAh battery with 80W rapid charging. The software on top is ColorOS 12.1.1 based on Android 12.
Oppo Reno 8 Pro is the first phone with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. This is paired with Mariana Marisilicon X NPU dedicated for imaging processing, a 3D cooling system, up to 12GB LPDDR4x+ 256GB UFS 2.1 memory configuration, and a 4500mAh cell with 80W fast charging.
The front of the phone is a 6.62-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Therein within a punch hole resides the phone’s 32MP selfie snapper.
On the back, there is a triplet comprising a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro clicker.
The 8 Pro also comes with Android 12-based Color OS 12.1.1.
The top-of-the-line offering is the Reno 8 Pro+ which is powered by Dimensity 8100 Max. This is bolstered by up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, Mariana Marisilicon X NPU, super crystalline graphite cooling solution, and a 4500mAh battery with 80W charging support.
The phone also flaunts a 120Hz FHD+ 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, dual speakers, Android 12-based ColorOS 12.1.1 software, a 32MP selfie snapper, a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP monochrome lens.
Oppo Reno 8 is priced at a starting price of 2499 CNY (~₹29130) for the 8+128GB variant while the Reno 8 Pro starts at 2999 CNY (~₹34960) for the 8+128GB edition, and Reno 8 Pro+ carries a starting price tag of 3699 CNY (~₹43119) for the 8+256GB model. The phones are currently out in the Chinese market. However, they are likely to land in India soon. At least the Reno 8 Pro is, as suggested by its recent BIS certification listing.
