Oppo has announced that the Oppo R7s will be launched on October 18 in Dubai. The unveiling of the smartphone will take place at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX). The Oppo R7s will be accompanied by the recently released Oppo Mirror 5, R7 Plus, R7 Lite, and R7 Plus FC Barcelona edition smartphones at the event.
Oppo has not revealed exact information about the specs of the R7s but it hinted that the phone will have a larger screen, bigger battery, and 2x the storage space offered by the Oppo R7. The smartphone was also spotted during its TENNA certification earlier. It is expected to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. Under the hood, it is rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset clocked at 1.5GHz along with 3GB of RAM. It is further expected to offer 32GB of internal storage. It might also have 13MP rear shooter and 8MP front shooter. The smartphone is expected to run on Android 5.1.1.
The Oppo R7s will be a successor to the Oppo R7 launched earlier this year. The device is expected to have a 5-inch HD display along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. It will have 13MP and 8MP cameras along with 16GB of in-built storage. It also has a 2,320mAh battery with support for Oppo's VOOC Flash Charge that is said to charge the phone to 75% in 30 minutes. The smartphone runs on Android KitKat 4.4.
Last month, Oppo launched R7 Plus and R7 Lite smartphones in India for a price tag of Rs. 29,990 and Rs. 17,990 respectively. Both the phones essentially have similar specifications except for the difference in the screen size and display resolution. The R7 Plus sports a 6-inch Full HD display while the R7 Lite sports a 5-inch HD display. Additionally, Oppo is reportedly in talks Foxconn to make its smartphones in India from Foxconn’s Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh. At that time, Mike Wang, Oppo India CEO, said, “India is one of the most important part of our expansion plans around the world. We are exploring options. We are in discussions with Foxconn, its almost in the final stages, we will have more clarity by October. We have sold around 400,000 devices in India and are targeting 1 million units by the end of this calendar year and 1.5 million units by the end of this fiscal year. India is a huge and diverse market for us which is full of opportunities."
