Chinese handset maker is set to enter the Indian smartphone market. The company will be holding an event on January 30 to make the official announcement. Though there’s no official word on which device the company will be showcasing at the event, rumours are it will launch its flagship Oppo N1, which was launched in China last September.
According to reports, Oppo may launch the N1 with Android ROM CyanogenMod or the company’s Color OS, which is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Among the main features of the smartphone is the rotating camera, which is similar to what we saw on the Gionee Elife E7, recently showcased in India.
The Oppo N1 has a large 5.9-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and 373 ppi density. It has a 13MP camera with rotating lens, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. The smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It is available in 16 GB and 32GB built-in storage variants.

For connectivity, the smartphone supports GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and microUSB 2.0. It is powered by a 3610 mAh battery battery.
So far there’s no word on the pricing of the smartphone, but we expect it to be priced aggressively. Gionee, another Chinese brand, had launched its flagship Elife E7, starting at Rs. 26,000. The company will also be competing against the likes of Micromax and Karbonn, popular for their budget smartphones.
