Oppo is all set to launch its Reno 9 series, will come with older Snapdragon 778G SoC
Oppo is launching the successor of its Reno 8 series, the Oppo Reno 9, in China.
The Android phone will run on Snapdragon 778G SoC and not on Qualcomm Snapdragon Series 7, which was the most speculated.
Reno 9 series will also be in sink with the new UFCS (Universal Fast Charging Specification) standard.
According to Digital Chat Station via Weibo, the Reno 9 series which was expected to function on Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series, will instead have the older Snapdragon 778G SoC chipset. The launch comes after Oppo launched Reno 8 series which is also available in India.
Other specifications of the smartphone have yet to be unwrapped, but details like fast charging and the processor for the series are already tipped. The Reno 9 series is expected to support a 4,500mAh battery with UFCS support thereby, making OPPO the first smartphone brand to comply with UFCS standards.
Reno 9 series specifications tipped before release
The Oppo Reno 8 series had 80W charging feature which is quite above the 40W charging that Oppo Reno 9 series is offering. The chipset which was anticipated to be Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or MediaTek Dimensity 800 series Soc, is also an older Snapdragon 778G Soc. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is only available for the smartphones available in China and in the Reno 8 series.
The Oppo Reno 9 series overall seems a downgrade for the users in China, as other smartphone brands are offering new-generation, better technology and powerful performance
