Opera Mini 8 is now available for BlackBerry and Java-running phones. The updated browser features a slew of new features including n improved Speel Dial start page with redesigned tiles. Opera has also rolled out a flat, minimalistic design for the new browser.
The updated browser brings a ‘Night Mode’, which dims the brightness of screen, and uses darker colours that are easy on eyes. Users can enable this feature via the Settings menu.
Opera Mini 8 also makes it easier for users to monitor and adjust data usage. It also gives options to users to set the quality of images. “All your surfing is squeezed down to as little as 10% of its original size, so, if you are on a bad connection or paying for data as you go, Opera Mini 8 will keep you online longer,” says Opera in a blog post.
There’s also a private browsing feature.
“Roughly half of our 250 million Opera Mini users are on basic phones, also called feature phones, and, today, their browser got even better,” says Christian Uribe, Product Manager for Opera Mini, Opera Software. “Opera Mini 8 has a lot of new stuff to try out, including night mode and private mode, but, for us, it is also important that Opera Mini is a pleasure to look at. That is why we have redesigned it to have a fresh, new look that fits into the Opera mobile browser product line.”
Opera Mini 8 is now available for free download for your Java-based basic phone or BlackBerry OS.
