OneUI 7 update is not even here and OneUI 8 leaks are already out

Samsung is reportedly working on OneUI 8 with significant boost in system animations and visual effects.
Recent findings in the program code of OneUI 7 apps indicate the presence of "decal shader."
This feature could be key in enhancing UI elements, improving animation effects, and more.
Samsung unveiled its custom Android skin OneUI 7 last month during the launch of its Galaxy S25 series. While OneUI 7 is available for the Galaxy S25 series out of the box, the South Korean tech giant is still rolling it out to other Samsung devices. While that is still happening, rumours about next year’s OneUI 8 have started to roll out. And it is expected to come sooner than the OneUI 7.
Leaks suggest that the company is currently working on OneUI 8 and we can expect a significant boost in both system animations and visual effects. With OneUI 7, Samsung released some really smooth animations that brought it to par with the likes of Apple’s iOS. With OneUI 8, we can expect it to be even better. Currently, it seems like the South Korean tech giant is doubling down on further refinements.
Recent findings in the program code of OneUI 7 apps indicate the presence of “decal shader,” a technology typically used in game development. This feature could be key in enhancing UI elements, improving animation effects, and refining touch responsiveness without overloading the system.
Even on the upcoming OneUI 8, it is expected that decal shaders can be used to make interface transitions, app switching, and touch interactions more fluid and visually appealing. Unlike deeper operating system changes, this implementation may remain on the skin level, ensuring efficiency without affecting core functionality.
As One UI 8 develops, the integration of decal shaders could lead to a more visually engaging and responsive user interface. For now, that’s all we know about OneUI 8, there’s a lot of time before it finally drops, so we can expect a lot more leaks in the coming future. For now, it seems that Samsung is keeping its focus fixed on animation improvements.
