OnePlus has announced that they will be holding an open sale of the OnePlus 2. The sale will be for an hour from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on October 12 at the Amazon India website. This will allow anyone to purchase the OnePlus 2 without the need for an invite.
In its blog post, the company has said that the slow invite rollout meant that not many people were able to purchase the OnePlus 2. It also said, “While we’ve alleviated the invite demand to a reasonable extent on account of faster roll-outs, we feel that we owe it to you all to make it a bit more convenient this time around.”
The OnePlus 2 was announced in India back in July this year and is priced at Rs. 24,999 for the 64GB variant. The phone comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a 3300mAh non-removable battery. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor as well as a USB Type-C port. At the the back of the device is a 13MP camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and laser autofocus. At the front is a 5MP wide-angle camera. The phone also features a dual SIM slots and comes with OxygenOS layered on Android Lollipop.
OnePlus has also sent out invites for an event being held on October 12 in Bengaluru. The event is being referred to as “The Next Big Step” in the invite and it is expected that the rumored OnePlus X smartphone will be announced there. The phone has been tipped to come with a 5-inch IPS display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 or 4. It has been rumored that the device will be powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 with 2GB DDR3 RAM. It is also expected to come with 32GB of internal storage. The OnePlus X is also tipped to come with a 3100mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 2.0. The device is expected to to be priced around $250, which is about Rs. 16,201.
OnePlus has also partnered with Blowhorn mobile app to offer its ‘60 mins or free’ offer on the OnePlus One smartphone. Buyers in Bengaluru who place an order for the OnePlus One through Blowhorn will have it delivered within an hour. If the delivery is delayed, they will get it for free. The promotion is valid between October 8 and October 10.
