OnePlus has sent out media invites for an event that will be held on October 12 in Bangalore. Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus and Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India will be at the event to make the announcement which is referred as “The Next Big Step” in the invite. It is speculated that the announcement could be the launch of much rumoured OnePlus X smartphone.
Additionally, Gizmochina reported that OnePlus’ Liu Zuohu has posted a teaser image on his Weibo account yesterday. The image shows the letter ‘X’ on a map. It could be the hint towards the OnePlus X smartphone. Add to it the fact that the event is only 3 days away, we can speculate that the device launching is the OnePlus X.
OnePlus’ next smartphone has been rumoured ever since the company’s co-founder Carl Pei confirmed the launch of a new smartphone. There have been a lot of rumours related to the specs of the OnePlus X. The smartphone is expected to sport a 5-inch IPS display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 or 4. Under the hood, it is speculated to come with MediaTek Helio X10 chipset coupled with 2GB DDR3 RAM. It is also expected to offer 32GB built-in storage along with support for microSD card. The whole package is rumoured to be powered by 3100mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support. The smartphone is also expected to feature a USB Type-C port like the OnePlus 2. As for pricing, the device is expected to be priced around $250 (approx. Rs. 16,201). Earlier, AnTuTu benchmark score screenshots of a OnePlus device with the model number A2301 were leaked. The phone scored 54,311 in the test.
OnePlus is working on its second smartphone for the year. This is the first time the company will launch two smartphones in one year. Pei recently told Digit in an interview that the company believes in making few great products and will never bloat up its products line. He also said that OnePlus 2 will be the only flagship smartphone this year.
