OnePlus Open 2, is expected to arrive earlier than expected and it is expected to be the world’s slimmest foldable phone. Last year, the Oppo Find N3 was rebranded as the OnePlus Open and sold globally. The Oppo Find N5 is expected to launch in China this February. If the trend follows, the OnePlus Open 2 can be released in the following weeks globally.
Currently, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is the slimmest foldable smartphone in India, which means OnePlus will directly take on Vivo if it launches the Open 2 with a slim design. Let’s see what else we know about the OnePlus Open right now.
Oppo’s Chief Product Officer Pete Lau, who is also the CEO of OnePlus, shared an image of the Oppo Find N5 against a pencil. He claims that the device is slimmer than a standard pencil. It is expected to measure approximately 4mm when unfolded, and less than 10mm when folded. If true, the OnePlus Open 2, based on the Find N5, will rival foldable like the Honor Magic V3 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro.
The OnePlus Open 2 may carry forward these features while offering slightly larger screens than its predecessor: an 8-inch inner foldable display and a 6.4-inch cover screen. Other rumours also suggest that the Oppo Find N5 can feature a titanium build and an IPX8 rating.
On the performance front, the OnePlus Open 2 can run on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It can also feature a triple camera setup with a 50-megapixel main camera, ultra-wide sensor, and telephoto lens. It is expected to feature a massive 6,000mAh battery with up to 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support.
Previous reports had hinted at a late-2025 launch of the OnePlus Open 2. However, if the Oppo Find N5 drops in February, then we can expect a global launch of the OnePlus Open 2 by spring or early summer.
