OnePlus One coming to India, is invite only for now

OnePlus is bringing its One smartphone to India, to be sold via invites only for now

Hong Kong based phone manufacturer One Plus is all set to cater to the Indian consumer with new country specific invites. The company’s global director Carl Pei announced this in a forum thread on the official forum. He also gave an assurance that there would be plenty of invites and the company will give away invites via local partners and social media as well.

One Plus One is the product in question which brings top tier specs to the table at almost half the price. The One Plus One smartphone is available in two variants- a 16GB (Silk white) and 64GB (Sandstone black) which are priced at $299 (Rs. 18,000) and $349 (Rs. 21,500) respectively. Except for the internal storage both versions showcase a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip with the quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front facing camera.

Looking at the specs, it is evident that the phone is priced much lower than similarly specced devices such as the Moto X (2nd gen) and the HTC One E8 which are both priced above the Rs. 30K mark.

One Plus has clarified that it is taking it slow since it is still new to the Indian market. The company announced a pre-order system for the One smartphone for a majority of European countries and India may soon follow.
