OnePlus has rebooted its popular Nord series with the launch of the OnePlus Nord 4 at the Summer Launch Event in Milan on July 16. This new smartphone, available globally and in India, features a standout unibody all-metal design. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, and has many impressive AI features including AI Audio Summary, AI Note Summary, AI Magic Eraser, and more.
The OnePlus Nord 4 succeeds the popular Nord 3, and comes with upgrades such as an all-aluminium body, IP65 rating, a newer processor, a larger battery and faster charging. The phone is available in three colourways, all of which take advantage of its metallic sheen. The colours are Obsidian Midnight, Mercurial Silver, and Oasis Green.
Let’s delve into the specifications of the newly-launched OnePlus Nord 4.
OnePlus Nord 4 specifications
The OnePlus Nord 4 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor which is paired with 8/12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128/256 GB internal storage. The 128 GB variant comes with UFS 3.1 speeds while the 256 GB unit features the latest UFS 4.0 storage standard. The phone runs Android 14 out of the box with OxygenOS 14.1 on top. Furthermore, OnePlus has committed to 4 years of OS updates and a whopping 6 years of security updates.
The OnePlus Nord 4 features a large 5,500 mAh battery with 100 W SUPERVOOC fast charging support, which is meant to top up the phone from 1-100 percent in just 28 minutes. It houses a 6.74-inch AMOLED ProXDR display with 1.5K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. OnePlus has rated the peak brightness at 2,150 nits. As for optics, the phone has a 50 MP Sony LYT-600 primary camera which is complimented by an 8 MP ultrawide shooter. For selfies, you get a 16 MP shooter.
OnePlus Nord is the only all-metal 5G smartphone
The all-metal designs, once popular in smartphones like the HTC One M8 and OnePlus 3T, were phased out due to the increasing need for antennas on a smartphone’s body to properly conduct 5G signals, which is challenging with an all-metal body.
The OnePlus Nord 4 revives the beloved all-metal trend by cleverly placing the antennas and making them physically smaller. OnePlus has also repositioned the cameras into a horizontal position to enable making the motherboard smaller, hence giving the company more space to fit a larger battery.
OnePlus Nord 4 price and availability
The OnePlus Nord 4 has launched at a starting price of ₹29,999 for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. You also have an 8 GB + 256 GB model priced at ₹32,999 and finally, the 12 GB + 256 GB model which is priced at ₹35,999. OnePlus is offering a bank discount of ₹2,000 on the 8 GB + 128 GB variant and the 8 GB + 256 GB variant and a bank discount of ₹3,000 on the 12 GB + 256 GB variant. Sale starts August 2, 2024.
There are a couple of pre-order offers as well, applicable between July 20th to July 30th. The 8 GB + 256 GB variant has a bank offer of ₹3,000 and the 12 GB + 256 GB variant has a bank offer ₹4,000.
