OnePlus is yet to tease or even hint at its upcoming smartphone lineup, which is rumoured to consist of the OnePlus 7 and its Pro version. However, the company’s CEO, Pete Lau recently did share the company’s plans for future OnePlus products that included TVs, connected car technology, and office gadgets. Now, Lau has tweeted that some details about “the new device” will be shared on April 17. Do note that Lau’s tweet doesn’t reveal what device he will be sharing information about but if the company sticks to its schedule, the next OnePlus flagship is due to launch in May.
While Lau is expected to make some announcement regarding the OnePlus 7 series, there’s a strong possibility that fresh details about the OnePlus TV could also be released tomorrow. While the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are expected to launch soon, the company announced that it is working on a television back in September 2018 and there has been no announcement about it ever since. In his tweet, Pete Lau says, “I know you guys are stoked to hear about the new device – check back to see my post this Wednesday”
If the coming announcement is about a OnePlus 7 phone, then we have already come across some leaked details about the device. A previous report about the OnePlus 6 Pro claims that the device sports GM1915 model name and is equipped with a 6.67-inch Super Optic display. It is expected to be launched running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. An image of the phone leaked all these specs and it suggests that the phone runs on Android 9 with 9.5.1 GM31CB build.
In terms of optics, the Pro variant is speculated to feature a triple-rear camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP secondary camera, and an 8MP sensor. The OnePlus 7 series of phones are also speculated to feature a pop-up selfie camera and come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
