Just a day after the iPhone 12 launch, OnePlus took the (virtual) podium to announce the OnePlus 8T, a special edition of the OnePlus Nord and the Buds Z truly wireless earphones. You can read more about the two smartphones here. OnePlus also alluded to working on a smartwatch, but that’s reserved for another day. In this article, we are going to detail the specs and features of the new truly wireless earbuds from OnePlus.
While there is already a truly wireless earbuds by OnePlus, the Buds Z is the more affordable option. It comes with IP55-rated water and dust resistance. Where the Buds Z differs is in the hardware inside. The Buds Z sport 10mm drivers, as opposed to 13.4mm drivers on the OnePlus Buds. The sound is optimised by Dirac Audio and Dolby Atmos, delivering stereo surround sound, and there are touch controls to wake Google Assistant or play/pause music. There are also two microphones in each bud for noise isolation, voice commands and answering calls.
OnePlus also claimed the Buds Z will deliver 5 hours of battery life on a single charge, and an additional 15 hours from the charging case. This is also lesser than the OnePlus Buds which boasts of a 30 hours battery life from the charging case.
The Buds Z supports fast charging. OnePlus claimed a 3 hour battery life with 10 minutes of charge. There’s Bluetooth 5.0 support and silicone ear tips make for passive noise cancellation. A single earbud of the Buds Z weighs 4.35 grams.OnePlus also announced a special edition Buds Z designed by Steven Harrington, known for his psychedelic, West Coast pop art.
The OnePlus Buds Z is priced at Rs 3,190 and will be available at a special pre-booking price of Rs 2,990 on the OnePlus Store. Pre-booking the Buds Z on Amazon and Flipkart will get you a Rs 200 discount as well. Pre-booking for the Buds Z will begin from October 26 and the TWS will go on sale from November 2.
If a truly wireless earphone is not up your alley, OnePlus also announced the neckband-sporting Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition, geared towards bassheads. The primary features like the audio drivers, and fast charging are the same as the regular Bullets Wireless Z. Only the battery life is much lesser. OnePlus confirmed the Bass Edition Bullets Wireless Z will last up to 17 hours, instead of the 20 hours on the previous offering.
The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition is priced at Rs 1,999 and will be available in limited quantities on the OnePlus Store, Amazon and Flipkart on October 15, and will be more widely available across online and offline retail channels from November 2.
A power bank from OnePlus was a long time coming, but this might not really live up to the OnePlus expectations. It’s a 10,000mAh power bank but with only 18W fast charging support. Not the 65W or even the 33W fast charge that the company offers from its charging bricks. As such, this one comes off as yet another power bank. There are two USB-A out ports and 1 USB-C input/output port. And you get it in black textured finish and a green glossy finish.
The OnePlus Power Bank is priced at Rs 1,299 and will be sold in an early-access sale on the OnePlus Store, Amazon and Flipkart on October 15, and in exclusive offline retail stores from October 16.
