OnePlus announces OxygenOS ROM, to be unveiled on Feb 12
OnePlus announces the Oxygen ROM for its OnePlus One smartphones (global version) which will come out on February 12th.
The name and release date of OnePlus' much awaited ROM are finally out. The company revealed on its blog that the ROM is known as OxygenOS and will be coming out on February 12th. The OxygenOS ROM is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and as OnePlus had said before the alpha build was released last month, it will feature almost a stock like UI.
After Cyanogen parted ways with OnePlus due to its exclusive deal with Micromax in India, OnePlus announced that it will coming out with its own ROM. The Alpha build of its own ROM was released by OnePlus on December 31 and got a fairly positive response from the community. You can check out the alpha build here.
OnePlus says it chose Oxygen for the ROM’s name as the element signifies that the ROM is simple, pure and is a fundamental building block. According to OnePlus, the upcoming ROM will be open, customizable and free of bloatware and unnecessary features.
The new ROM will be available for global versions of the OnePlus One smartphones. While the OxygenOS ROM will be released to the world on February 12, users in China will will get a slightly different version of the OS, known as H2OS.
