OnePlus 9 series launching on March 23 in India
OnePlus 9 series is now confirmed to feature a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera that is based on a Sony IMX766 sensor. The OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9 Lite / 9R / 9E are expected to launch on March 23 in India. OnePlus has started teasing the key features of its upcoming flagship range in the run-up to the launch. The company recently announced that it has collaborated with Swedish camera-maker Hasselblad to develop the cameras on the upcoming OnePlus 9 series.
OnePlus has officially revealed, via Tweets and a video, that the OnePlus 9 series features a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera that is based on a Sony IMX766 sensor. This corroborates with earlier leaks that hinted at the camera details of the OnePlus 9 Pro. Additionally, OnePlus released a video featuring Hasselblad ambassador Lars Schneider as he traverses snow-clad mountains to create an ultra-wide picture from the OnePlus 9 series.
OnePlus has previously revealed that it has worked on a new panoramic camera that offers a 140-degree field-of-view for the OnePlus 9 series. The sensor uses a free-form lens that lowers edge distortion to one per cent than the usual 10-20% levels. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has also tweeted a camera sample that shows the difference between a traditional ultra-wide-angle camera and the one on the upcoming OnePlus 9 series without any edge distortions.
Ultra-wide photography literally broadens your horizons. Shouldn’t it also keep them true? On the left, a shot taken with a conventional ultra-wide. On the right, the same (and yet totally different) photo taken with the #OnePlus9Series, free of distortion. pic.twitter.com/jbtWae2faP

Furthermore, the company has also confirmed that the OnePlus 9 series features a custom Sony IMX789 sensor that brings in 12-bit RAW, 4K UHD recording at 120FPS and more. OnePlus is expected to reveal more details about the OnePlus 9 series as we near the launch date.
