OnePlus 9 could launch earlier than expected

OnePlus 8T was launched on October 14 in India

OnePlus 9 allegedly goes by the codename 'Lemonade'

OnePlus 9 could launch earlier than usual in 2021, according to the latest report. The OnePlus 8T launched last week on October 14, exactly six months after the company announced the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Now, it seems like the company is gearing to launch the OnePlus 9 a month before expected.

OnePlus has been scheduling its flagship launches a month earlier than usual for a few devices now. From a launch in the month of May for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 7, the company announced the OnePlus 8 in April, earlier this year and is following the same tradition with its T-series.

According to a report by Android Central that cites “insider sources”, we may get the OnePlus 9 around mid-March in 2021. However, we would advise our readers to take this with a pinch of salt as there are many factors at play and plans could change between now and when the phone officially debuts. Nevertheless, an early launch would allow the company’s products to have an extended shelf-life than the current six months refresh cycle. Apart from that, there’s nothing known about the OnePlus 9, especially since the OnePlus 8T is still pretty new and has recently gone on sale across different regions.

As per a tweet by the noted tipster, Max J. the OnePlus 9 goes by the internal codename ‘Lemonade’. OnePlus 9 could likely to be powered by the next Snapdragon 875 flagship processor that is set to launch on December 1, later this year. We expect OnePlus to make significant advances in its camera technology next year and maybe update that selfie camera. It is also likely that OnePlus 9 features the 65W fast charging tech that debuted with the OnePlus 8T.

OnePlus 8T specifications

OnePlus 8T is priced starting at Rs 42,999 in India and features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with a 120Hz high refresh rate. There is a punch-hole cutout in the top-left corner for the selfie camera and the screen is relatively flatter than the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.

OnePlus 8T is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from. The phone runs on OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11, out-of-the-box.

OnePlus 8T comes with a 48MP primary camera, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera that is housed in the punch-hole cutout.

OnePlus 8T comes fitted with a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging out-of-the-box courtesy of Warp Charge 65 fast charging solution.
