Next day after the global unveiling, OnePlus has finally launched its OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition smartphone in India. The new smartphone adds to the company’s existing lineup of OnePlus 6T devices but brings some new features to the table. One of the most noticeable changes come with the new handset’s design, which features the signature McLaren Papaya Orange colour accent that wraps around the phone’s bottom edge, fading into the black glass panel. Additionally, the pattern underneath the glass rear panel of the device is said to be based on McLaren’s carbon fiber, which has been used in the automotive company’s cars since 1981. There’s also 10GB RAM to go with the tagline of speed and the company’s partnership with McLaren.
OnePlus has also introduced Warp Charge 30 technology with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. When using the new 30W charging tech, the company claims that the 3700mAh battery on the special edition phone will be topped to 50 percent in just 20 minutes. However, we will surely test if the device can actually last for an entire day under our tests. The phone’s charging cable also gets a new Papaya Orange colour and the device itself will feature exclusive software animations, which are tuned to McLaren’s unique style and history.
Coming to the hardware, the phone features almost the same internals as the standard OnePlus 6T (review). It sports a 6.41-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and runs on the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It comes with 10GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The device sports an in-display fingerprint sensor and OnePlus says that it can unlock the phone in 0.34 seconds and it also gets faster over time.
In terms of optics, the handset sports a dual camera on the back where with a 16MP Sony IMX519 sensor with f/1.7 aperture and the secondary 20MP Sony IMX376K sensor with f/1.7 aperture. The device’s main camera is capable of shooting 4K videos at 60fps and supports Super Slow Motion Video recording as well, at 720p at 480fps and 1080p at 240fps.
