After weeks of hints and teasers, the OnePlus 6 will finally be unveiled officially today. However, in the days leading up to the launch, the company itself has revealed almost everything about the smartphone. OnePlus has also collaborated with Marvel Studios and will launch the Avengers: Infinity Wars edition of the device in India on May 17, alongside the standard OnePlus 6. The company is also offering its customer to pre-book the smartphone in a ‘Fast AF’ sale and there will also be pop-up events hosted across India where interested buyers will get to experience and buy the OnePlus 6 before anyone else. Here is a roundup of everything we know about the device and what it could offer.

Where and how to watch the event?

The OnePlus 6 will be unveiled globally at an event in London today, which is slated to start at 5 PM BST (9:30 PM IST).  It will be live streamed as well and you can watch it from the video embedded below.

OnePlus also offered avid fans in India with a chance to attend the event. The tickets for it went on sale on May 8 and were sold out under four minutes, the company says. Those who are attending the event will receive various OnePlus goodies like a baseball cap, a tote bag, a OnePlus Marvel Avengers Limited Edition T-shirt and more.

How much could it cost, launch offers and where to buy?

There is no concrete report of how much the OnePlus 6 could be priced at in India. However, seeing the trend of increasing pricing on OnePlus devices, it is speculated that the smartphone could be priced above Rs 40,000. It was recently spotted on the Amazon Germany website where the 64GB variant of the smartphone was listed at 519 Euros (Rs 41,728), while the 128GB variant was listed at 569 Euros (Rs 45,748). The device is expected to be priced around the same in India but we will know for sure tomorrow when it is launched in the country.

Those who are eager to get their hands on the upcoming smartphone can pre-book the device on Amazon. They will also get to avail a Rs 1,000 cashback along with a three month extended warranty on the OnePlus 6. For availing the benefits, users first need to head over to the Amazon India ‘Fast AF’ sale webpage (here) and buy a Rs 1,000 denomination gift card by clicking on the ‘Shop Now’ button. Interested buyers should hurry as today is the last day of the ‘Fast AF’ sale. The event will take place between 3:30 PM and 8MP on May 21, and between 11 AM and 7MP on May 22.

Display and Design

OnePlus has already confirmed that the smartphone will feature an edge-to-edge display with a notch on top and sport a 19:9 display aspect ratio. This design decision of the company was met with criticism of scorned fans who dislike the notch. The company’s CEO Pete Lau, along with the Co-Founder Carl Pei, explained that the notch is the best way to provide more usable screen area to the user, but those who are averse to it will also be able to hide it using a compatibility mode, which is presumed to black out the sides of the notch to give an impression of a top bezel. The company says that the notch on the OnePlus 6 will be smaller in comparison to the one on the iPhone X and its exact measurements are 19.616mm x 7.687mm. The smartphone could reportedly feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a 2280 x 1080p resolution and is said to come with a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent, thanks to the notch.

The OnePlus 6 is also confirmed to feature a glass rear panel, which has five printed layers of Nanotech Coating. Pete Lau, CEO and Founder of OnePlus said, “OnePlus 6's glass design is centered around creating a ‘sense of value’ and ‘premium hand-feel’. We gave a lot of thought to how users should feel when they use the OnePlus 6. The advantages of glass over metal are manifold: glass communicates a transparent, bright, and pure feeling. The way glass transforms under different lighting is a particularly important challenge—the OnePlus design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one.” It’s not confirmed yet but since the smartphone has a glass back, it's possible that it could come with wireless charging support. However, this information has not been confirmed by OnePlus.

OnePlus x Marvel Avengers Infinity Wars Special Edition

OnePlus previously launched the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited edition in collaboration with Disney Studios. It was a smartphone exclusive to only Indian customers and this year, the company will launch the OnePlus x Marvel Avengers Infinity Wars Special Edition. In a teaser, the company has given a quick look at the 19:9 display of the smartphone and it will come with a “unique” textured back.

The OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition came with a red Alert Slider, a textured rear panel with the Star Wars logo. We can expect some similar design elements on the OnePlus 6’s special edition smartphone, which is inspired by the movie.

Processor and memory variants

The OnePlus 6 is confirmed to be equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The flagship Qualcomm processor is built on a 10nm manufacturing process and boasts of max clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz. The company has stressed that the OnePlus 6 is built for speed and has also revealed that the device will be equipped with 256GB of internal storage, which is a first for the brand.

The smartphone could be launched in two RAM variants of 6GB and 8GB and come in 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage variants. Previously leaked AnTuTu scores of the OnePlus 6 suggest that it outperforms the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S at 276510.

Camera

Going by the numerous renders, leaks and reports, the OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup on the rear. As per a previous report, the device could feature a 20 MP resolution with f/1.7 aperture along with a 16MP secondary sensor. It could be equipped with a 16MP sensor on the front. It is expected to feature a portrait mode as well. Some images for Vogue India magazine’s cover were captured using the OnePlus 6 and Pete Lau recently shared some camera samples taken by the handset.

Additionally, the company is conducting a blind test to demonstrate its camera prowess. Photos from the OnePlus 6 are mixed up among shots taken by the iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 and the Galaxy S9+. There are also reports that the device will support super slow motion video recording similar to the Xperia XZ2 and the Galaxy S9+. There could also be a slide to focus function for the Alert Slider on the OnePlus 6 to manually adjust the focus of the camera.

Additional Features

The OnePlus 6 is speculated to come with tons of additional features. The first one which caught our attention was the rumour that the smartphone might come with a heart rate sensor. The company has also teased that the phone could come with some sort of water or splash resistance.

OnePlus 6 customers will also get to experience the latest public beta of Android P operating system on the device. At the Google I/O 2018 developer conference, the search giant announced that for the first time, the latest Android P public beta will be available for devices other than the Pixel phones and the list includes the yet to be launched OnePlus 6. The company has also announced the same on their OnePlus forum.
