OnePlus 5T to get camera improvements via software update in early December
HIGHLIGHTS

OnePlus co-founder, Carl Pei says that the update would improve details in low light images, selfies with a more natural exposure, and Beautification mode to be on be default in certain Asian markets.

One of the biggest differences between the OnePlus 5T and the OnePlus 5 was the new camera setup. The setup in the new phone ditched the optical zoom found on its predecessor in order to offer better low light performance. However, it seems like the quality of the images clicked by the new phone isn’t up to par for some users and so the company is planning to roll out a new software update with the aim of improving the quality of pictures clicked by the OnePlus 5T.

In a post on OnePlus’ official forum, the company’s co-founder, Carl Pei says that the company has taken feedback from its community and the media and plans to improve camera quality in three areas. This includes more detail in images taken in low light, selfies to offer a more natural exposure, and Beautification mode to be turned on by default in certain Asian markets. Pei notes that the update would first be tested in among a private group, and would then be rolled out globally in early December.

To recall, the OnePlus 5T also features a dual rear camera setup with 16MP and 20MP sensors, just like the OnePlus 5. However, instead of optical zoom, both sensors features the same f/1.7 aperture lens and 27.22mm focal length for better low light photography. At the front is a 16MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture lens.

Besides a new camera setup, the OnePlus 5T offers a 6.01-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio. In order to accommodate the new display, the fingerprint sensor was moved to the back of the phone. The device is available in two variants, the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant is priced at Rs 32,999, while the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 37,999.
