OnePlus has launched a new Sandstone variant of their flagship smartphone OnePlus 5T. It sports a Sandstone rear panel, which debuted on the company’s first phone, the OnePlus One and its successor, the OnePlus 2. The new OnePlus 5T is listed on the company’s US websites and is expected to soon go on sale in the country. It’s not known whether the new variant will be launched in India or not.
The new Sandstone variant looks strikingly similar to the recently launched OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition, which was exclusive to India, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. Both the smartphones sport a white rear panel with Sandstone texture and come with a red coloured alert slider. The new OnePlus 5T is also listed on the company’s website only in one variant with 8GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage, similar to device’s Star Wars edition.
Only the rear panel has been revamped in the new OnePlus 5T. In terms of specifications, it features a 6-inch full-HD+ Optic AMOLED screen with an 18:9 display aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 835 platform and runs OxygenOS on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. It packs a 3300mAh battery and supports the company’s proprietary Dash Charging technology.
The OnePlus 5T features a revamped dual rear camera setup compared to its predecessor with 16MP+20MP sensors. Both the sensors feature the same f/1.7 aperture lens and 27.22mm focal length which the company says can capture better low-light and portrait shots. It comes with a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and sports a rear placed fingerprint sensor.
