OnePlus 5, the upcoming flagship from the Chinese hardware startup has made its way through GeekBench. The handset has apparently topped the GeekBench 4 listing ahead of Samsung's Galaxy S8+ and other smartphones. According to the GeekBench scores obtained by GSMArena, the OnePlus 5 has impressive scores of 1963 in the single-core test and 6687 in the multi-core test. Its multi-core score of 6687, the purported OnePlus 5 device has beaten Samsung's Galaxy S8+ powered by both Exynos 8895 and Snapdragon 835 chipset. The device got placed number 3 in the single-core benchmark, behind Apple's iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S8+ powered by Exynos 8895, but ahead of Snapdragon 835 powered Galaxy S8+.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has already confirmed that OnePlus 5 will arrive this summer and the smartphone is expected to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor. The only other devices to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset are Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in the US, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Xiaomi Mi 6. The GeekBench listing also suggests the OnePlus 5 will run OxygenOS with Android Nougat 7.1.1.
The OnePlus 5 has already appeared on retail sites like OppoMart and GearBest and it is expected to be priced at $449. The phone is rumoured to sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display and offer up to 8GB RAM. Like Xiaomi Mi 6, the OnePlus 5 is also said to sport a dual rear camera setup with one wide-angle lens and one telephoto lens. If these leaked scores are anything to go by, the OnePlus 5 is promising to be a pretty powerful smartphone.
