Highlights:
OnePlus has been swift in updating its entire fleet of phones and all OnePlus 5 and above handsets have been updated to Android Pie. Now, until the next iteration of Android comes along, the company will be focussing on rolling out patches that fix anything that’s broken and enhance the quality of software on its devices. OnePlus is now rolling out new Open Beta 26, 24 for the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones, along with the Open Beta 12, 4 for the OnePlus 6 and 6T. The new open betas bring some System level changes for the phones, along with some other fixes.
The new open beta patches for the phones brings almost the same set of features for the four phones. The screenshot function has been optimised for the devices and quick reply to messages when in landscape mode is also supported. The latter is aimed at making texting easier when watching a video or playing games. The Gaming mode has also been optimised for the handsets. OnePlus Laboratory has also been added to the OnePlus 6, while both OnePlus 6 and 6T now support world clock with weather information. All these new features are expected to be soon made available for the stable build of the phones as well.
Speaking of updates, OnePlus is expected to soon roll-out a fix for the newly reported battery drain issue that is plaguing OnePlus 6T users. Some users of the device have complained, on Reddit, that the phone’s battery has suddenly started draining from 80 percent. “If I had to guess I'd say my battery life was at least halved all of a sudden and I'm not even putting it through heavy workloads or anything. I've put background restrictions on the biggest culprits and that hasn't done anything. I updated the software to the latest version available to the T-Mobile version and that didn't do anything at all either,” a user posted.
In terms of specs, the OnePlus 6T features a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2340p resolution and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The device is backed by a 3700mAh battery and comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. There is also a 10GB Mclaren edition variant of the phone. In terms of storage, one has the option of 128 or 256GB. In terms of optics, the handset comes equipped with a 16+20MP camera on the back and a 16MP selfie sensor on the front.
