OnePlus has confirmed that its next flagship, the OnePlus 5 will be unveiled on June 20. The company's confirmation comes a short while after a leak indicated that the company is planning to launch the device on that day. The smartphone will be announced via an online event scheduled to start at 12 PM EDT or 9.30PM IST. Like OnePlus 3 launch last year, the company is also planning a number of pop-up events around the globe to showcase the new device.

The company has also confirmed on its Indian website that the smartphone will launch here on June 22 at an event in Mumbai and will be exclusive to Amazon. OnePlus fans can purchase tickets for its invitation-only launch event from its website on June 12. "All fans who attend the launch event will get a gift hamper full of super add-ons and OnePlus merchandise. Select fans will also get a chance to purchase the OnePlus 5 at the event itself and own the device before anyone else in the country," the company said in a statement. OnePlus has also created a minisite that acts as a placeholder for the launch of OnePlus 5. Consumers interested in the OnePlus 5 can enter their email address to receive exclusive news about the device. The launch teaser carries a tagline 'Focus on what matters' hinting at upgraded specs and the possible introduction of a dual-rear camera setup.

Ahead of the official launch, Android Police has obtained the official render of the OnePlus 5. This new render debunks all the previous leaked renders of the handset and the smartphone is apparently going to look a lot like Apple's iPhone 7. There is a visible U-shaped antenna design and horizontal dual-rear camera setup similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. OnePlus has partnered with DxOMark to ensure an improved imaging performance. The company has been teasing the camera prowess of OnePlus 5 for some time now.

The leaked render also shows the standard OnePlus toggle switch placed above the volume control. A leak yesterday suggested the smartphone will feature a full HD display, as opposed to a Quad HD panel rumoured in the past. The handset is confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset and might arrive in multiple colour options. The phone is also said to be thinner than its predecessors.
