OnePlus has announced the roll-out of the final OxygenOS open beta builds for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus 3 is now receiving the Open Beta 39, while the OnePlus 3T gets the Open Beta 30. These are the last open betas because the smartphone manufacturer will next seed a stable update for the devices later this month so that beta testers can go back to a stable version of OxygenOS for receiving regular Android security patch update. The new betas introduce improvements and new features for the device’s camera, launcher and other system capabilities.
As per the changelog, those who update with the new OxygenOS open beta will first notice the many changes made to the launcher. It now comes with improved search tags in the app drawer, along with a “New installs” category tag for easier identification of newly installed apps. The app list has also improved for hidden spaces and toolbox. The camera has been optimised and switching between the front and rear sensor should now be smoother. There is also a new functionality that enables one to scrub/seek through AAC audio file timelines. As the updates are in the beta phase, they are not as stable as official OTAs and users should expect some bugs. Those who are already running their devices with the Open Beta update will receive the new build as an OTA update.
After this last open beta update, the OnePlus will continue seeding regular software patches for the OnePlus 3/3T till November 2018. OnePlus announced this while describing a Software Maintenance Schedule for its devices, under which the company will receive two years of regular software updates from the date of the phone's launch. After the initial two years of software updates are made available, the company will also roll out one more year of Android security patches on a bi-monthly basis.
