The OnePlus X will also be available without invites, between December 5 and 7.

UPDATE: We reached out to OnePlus India and they have confirmed that there won’t be an invite-less sale for the OnePlus X between December 5-7 as mentioned in the forums. As for the OnePlus 2, it will be available without an invite from December 5. The offer will be availble on oneplus.net

OnePlus will be celebrating its second anniversary on December 17 and on this occasion, the OnePlus 2 will be available without invites. This is not a limited-time offer, and the smartphone will be available without an invite forever, from the midnight of December 5. Besides that, the OnePlus X will also be available invite-free, from December 5-7. During this weekend, OnePlus is also giving 10% to 90% discounts on various accessories.

At the same time last year, the company made the OnePlus One invite-free. OnePlus mentions in its forum post that it is ringing the holiday bell early, so that the devices could reach customers in time for the holiday season. According to the post, OnePlus 2 StyleSwap covers will be available for 50% discounts. Select OnePlus accessories will be offered for 90% discounts, and the rest of its accessories will be offered at 10% discount. A limited number of early buyers will be eligible to receive an exclusive 'Never Settle' mousepad.

The OnePlus 2, which came out earllier this year, trumped all flagship smartphones in terms of its price. Its smaller price tag and good performance makes up for its shortcomings, and is the cheapest smartphone running Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. It also has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and 64GB of storage. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and a fingerprint sensor to keep up with security issues. While the rear camera on the phone is still a 13MP shooter, much like the OnePlus One, it offers OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), and laser-assisted autofocus. The phone packs a 3300mAh battery which lasts for about a day, but offers no quick-charging support.

The OnePlus X, on the other hand, is a smaller mid-range smartphone which has a similar spec sheet to the OnePlus One, and has a smaller, well-designed body. For the OnePlus X, OnePlus has left out the Sandstone back, and introduced Onyx and Ceramic glass builds. The body of the smartphone is made entirely out of metal and glass. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC and 3GB of RAM, it features only 16GB of internal storage, which is upgradable via the Hybrid secondary SIM-microSD card slot.

The OnePlus 2 is available for Rs. 24,999, and will be available invite-free from December 5. As or the OnePlus X, it is priced at Rs. 16,999, and will be available without invites from December 5-7.
