The much awaited OnePlus 2 smartphone will cost less than $450 (Rs. 29,000 approx), said company CEO Pete Lau. The device will be launched on July 27, with a launch in India on the following day. The exact pricing will of course be confirmed on that day only. The company made the announcement through a tweet from its official account, with an image quoting CEO Lau.

The OnePlus 2 smartphone has been one of the most awaited devices of the year. It is the successor to the current OnePlus One, which was amongst the most appreciated smartphones of 2014. The Chinese company brought the device to India in December last year and has seen massive consumer interest. OnePlus has also been embroiled in controversy over Micromax’s exclusive partnership with CyanogenMod.
Despite all that though, OnePlus has successfully sold many units of the One in India, with the country becoming one of its most important markets. The upcoming OnePlus 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and rumours point towards three variants, with at least one of those variants being made of metal. The device will also sport a USB Type-C port and OnePlus has said it will have a fingerprint sensor faster than Apple’s Touch ID.
