OnePlus has finally launched the OnePlus 12, the successor of the OnePlus 11. Along with this smartphone, OnePlus has also unveiled the OnePlus 12R. Both smartphones come with new upgrades but the OnePlus 12 rolls out with some really cool upgrades. However, we all knew that it would be better than the OnePlus 11, but is it better than other options in the market? The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus is one of them. It was launched recently and comes with some major AI features.
I am comparing both the latest flagship smartphones edge-to-edge. Let’s see how it goes and let us know which one would you buy.
The OnePlus 12 is equipped with a 6.82-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display that supports 10-bit colour, up to 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision. Interestingly, its display has up to 4500 nits of peak brightness and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus also has a 6.7-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate. This display is also protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2. However, it has only 2600 nits of peak brightness, which is also decent but not bright enough to compete with the OnePlus 12.

The OnePlus is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset that is paired with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is Qualcomm’s latest 4nm chipset one Prime core clocked at 3.3Ghz, five Performance cores clocked at 3.2Ghz, and two Efficiency cores clocked at 2.3Ghz. Furthermore, it runs on Android 14-based skin, OxygenOS out of the box.
Speaking of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, this smartphone is more about AI than its hardware. It features Galaxy AI which unlocks so many cool features that other manufacturers are yet to offer. You can use Galaxy AI while communicating, editing, writing, and more when needed. Apart from that, this smartphone is equipped with the Exynos 2400 SoC coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Next, it also runs on the latest Android 14-based skin OneUI 6.1.
Now if you ask me, it’s very difficult to choose one of them. However, I will go for the OnePlus 12 because no matter what, nothing beats Qualcomm in the semiconductor game. But, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus has its own advantages like AI integrated into its core to make things easier for you.
The OnePlus 12 has been introduced with a new 64-megapixel Periscope Telephoto sensor with up to 3x optical zoom. This sensor replaced the 32-megapixel Telephoto sensor in the OnePlus 11. Along with that, there is a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS support and a 48-megapixel Ultrawide lens. On the front, you get a 32-megapixel selfie shooter.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus also features a triple camera setup, holding a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, a 10-megapixel Telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel Ultrawide lens. Here, you get a 12-megapixel camera for selfies.
For pictures, I would suggest the OnePlus 12 as per the details. However, for videos, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus beats the OnePlus 12. This is because the latter can shoot 8K videos at 30fps with the main camera and 4K videos at 60fps with the front camera.

The OnePlus 12 is packed with a 5400mAh battery that supports 100-watt fast charging, 50-watt wireless charging, and 10-watt reverse wireless charging. Whereas, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus is equipped with a 4900mAh battery that has 45-watt fast charging, 15-watt wireless charging, and 4.5-watt reverse wireless charging support.
OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 12 in India at a starting price of ₹64,999. While the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus was announced at a starting price of ₹99,999. About their availability, Samsung hasn’t announced the date of Galaxy S24’s open sale, but it is expected to go live on January 31. Apart from that, the OnePlus 12 will also go on sale on January 30.
We all know that the middle child (Plus variant) has a lower probability of being sold, as users typically opt for the vanilla model or the top-end variant. Personally, I would choose the OnePlus 12. Even if I was interested in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus for its AI features, I’d still go for the base Samsung Galaxy S24.
