OnePlus 11 series leaks suggest UFS 4.0 storage and more
In a recent Weibo post, popular leaker Digital Chat Station states that OnePlus’ next flagship smartphones will come with UFS 4.0 storage. This storage standard was announced in May 2022 and it brings with it a significant leap in sequential read/write speeds. It also allows the chips to be smaller and more power efficient. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips are the first from Qualcomm to support UFS 4.0.
Samsung has stated that UFS 4.0 NAND chips provide double the sequential read/write speeds over the current standard in premium phones – UFS 3.1. The speeds could reach up to 4,200 Mbps and 2,800 Mbps respectively which is quite a massive leap. Despite this, UFS 4.0 is said to be around 45 per cent more efficient.
The faster storage chip should lead to a speed boost in cases such as app launch times, boot-up speeds, and app installation speeds.
Coming back to the OnePlus 11 series, the company allegedly plans on offering up to 16 GB RAM for their upcoming flagship smartphones. Digital Chat Station also states that the phones will feature a curved display with a left-aligned hole punch cutout for the selfie camera.
While the original leak did claim that the OnePlus 11 could feature a premium ceramic body with a metal frame, another leaker – Max Jambhor – refutes this claim. We will have to wait for the eventual launch of the OnePlus 11 series to know if this is indeed true, but a ceramic body will certainly be a differentiating factor for OnePlus’ upcoming flagships.
The OnePlus 11 series is expected to launch in China in early 2023 and it should make its global debut a couple of months later.
